Murrah is also known as Delhi, Kundi, Kali. This breed is used for milk as well as draft purpose. This breed is found in Hissar Rohtak, Gurgaon, Jind of Haryana and Delhi, as its breeding track. Males are used both for breeding as well as draft purpose. This breed has even formed an important place in the livestock industry of many developing countries like Bulgaria, the Philipines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, and Sri Lanka. The color of Murrah is Jet black. The horns are tightly curved in a spiral form and short in size. This breed has spread to almost all parts of the world and is being bred either in pure form or is being used for grading up local buffaloes. Murrah Buffaloes has average body length 148 cm, height at wither 133 cm and chest girth 202 cm. The average age at first calving recorded as 1300 days, lactation length 310 days and inter-calving period 450 days. This breed has an average of 2200 kg of milk production per lactation.
