Conventional Semen Jaffarabadi Bulls

Jaffrabadi buffalo is also known as Bhavanagri, Gir, or Jaffari. It is named after the town of Jaffarabad. Amreli, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagad, Rajkot, and Porbandar districts of Gujrat are breeding tracts of this breed. This breed is black but some animals having white or grey tail switch are also seen. The Horns exhibit wide variation but usually emerge out by compressing the head, go downward sideways, then upward and inward finally forming a ring-like structure and horns are long. Horn shape is peculiar to this breed. It makes eyes look small – termed as study eyes or sleepy eyes, especially in males. It has moderate ears with pointy tip usually hide behind the horns. It is the heaviest of all Indian breeds of Buffalo. Jaffrabadi Buffaloes has average body length 140 cm, height at wither 145 cm and chest girth 205 cm. The average age at first calving recorded as 1300 days, lactation length 310 days and inter-calving period 520 days. This breed has an average of 2000 kg of milk production per lactation.
