Beetal Breed

Beetal is a dual-purpose breed also known as Amritsari. It is named after its place of origin i.e. Batala tehsil of Gurdaspur district of Punjab. Ferozpur, Amritsar, Gurdaspur districts of Punjab are breeding tracts of this breed. Beetal is a prolific and good dairy breed, and second to Jamunapari in size. Black coat color is common in this breed,brown with white spots of different sizes is also available. The horns are small in size (about 12 cm), carried horizontally with a slight twist, directed backward and upward. Beetal goats are tall animals, having a roman nose and long ears (24.8 cm). The milk yield of this breed is 157 kg per lactation.
